Ex-Arsenal and West Ham United midfielder Samir Nasri has given an insight into the relationship between Lionel Messi and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. Samir Nasri talked about Messi and Guardiola in a chat with French media outlet Canal+.

Samir Nasri stated that Guardiola told his Manchester City players when he took over at the start of the 2016/17 season that only Messi is allowed to sulk if he finds himself on the bench and that the little magician is always a sure starter for him.

French international Samir Nasri said that Guardiola has a lot of respect for Messi as he won a lot of titles for him during his time as the Barcelona manager.
Nasri didn't really play under Guardiola at Manchester City following the arrival of the Spanish manager in 2016. Guardiola was named the Manchester City manager five years ago as the replacement for Manuel Pellegrini who was relieved of his duties despite winning the 2015/16 Carabao Cup title.
Nasri made one cameo appearance for Manchester City under Guardiola before he left the club to sign for Spanish La Liga side Sevilla. The Frenchman also disclosed that Guardiola asked his players if Messi was in the dressing room and that he's the only player who can show displeasure at being left on the bench. Guardiola informed the Manchester City players upon his arrival in the summer of 2016 that they would be friends until he begins to make difficult decisions whenthe season starts.
Messi has a very good record since he started to feature against the teams managed by Guardiola. He recently scored the second goal as French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) beat the Guardiola-led Manchester City team 2-0 at home in a Group A clash in the Champions League. Messi wrapped up the win after Senegalese international star IdrissaGueye opened the scoring inside the first eight minutes.
