CITY SMASH QPR
Samir Nasri’s club, Manchester City, has defeated Queens Park Rangers in a Premier League match by 3-1 at the Etihad stadium. The City team performed much better than the previous games. The players looked charged up and were on the attack right from the outset.
The manager of City, Roberto Mancini, was not happy with his team’s performance against Liverpool, but, the way his players performed against QPR; it would have given him a lot of satisfaction.
Carlos Tevez, who had to remain out of the team for a large part of the last season due to controversy with Roberto Mancini, played a major part in City’s victory over QPR. He scored the third goal for City which was also his 50th goal for City in the Premier League. Tevez has been performing brilliantly right from the start of the season. He has scored in all the four games that he has played in this season. Not only did he score a goal, he also set up the other two goals for the team.
The City players started the match pretty well and took a lead in the 16th minute with the goal of Yaya Toure. Toure got the ball at a distance of 10 yards from the penalty area and he blasted it straight into the bottom corner of the net. The City players created some more opportunities in the first half, but, they didn’t manage to double their lead and at the half time, the score was 1-0 in the favour of City.
The QPR team equalised the scores in the 59th minute when Bobby Zamora scored a goal against the run of play. That was a wakeup call for the City players. The QPR team wasn’t able to maintain the lead for too long. Manchester City got ahead in the game again when Edin Dzeko capitalized on Tevez’s cross and smashed the ball into the goal post from a distance of 8 yards in the 61st minute of the match.
The QPR players tried hard to score the leveller, but, the City defenders didn’t give them any chance. Tevez secured the victory of City by deflecting Dzeko’s pass into the net in the injury time. With this victory, City has moved up to no. 4 in the Premier League table.
