TROPHIES PROVE CITY WAS RIGHT MOVE
Manchester city midfielder Samir Nasri has said that he has given the perfect response to the criticism from the Arsenal fans that he went to Manchester City only to get more money.
Samir Nasri won his first league title in England with Manchester City. It is his first season at the club and he has been able to celebrate it with a major trophy. At Arsenal, though, Samir Nasri spent several seasons without a win achieving even a single trophy success. Following his £ 25 million move to Manchester City in the summer, many fans criticised him for choosing money over football.
Now, he has rubbed salt into the wounds of Arsenal by claiming that their fans and players can now be happy with the third placed finish they achieved this season. Arsenal had a lot of struggles during the season, but managed to finish in the third position. It will ensure them automatic qualification into the Champions League group stages, but it is also the seventh successive season without a trophy for Arsenal. Samir Nasri has criticised the fans by saying that they should understand that he left only for trophies to Manchester city and not for the £ 170,000 per week salary.
"People at Arsenal tried to make out that I came here for the money. I hope they are watching me now, collecting my Premier League winner's medal. I believe they have not won a trophy for many years now. I made the hard choice to come and fight for my place at a big club, and I have proved it correct. I now hope the Arsenal fans can get on with their lives and forget me," Nasri told the French television channel TF1. Nasri also said that Arsenal can celebrate their third place finish this season.
